Employment Services

Wednesday, May 28th the ULGC hosted a job fair for the Walgreen's Company.
Hiring management interviewed approximately 25 candidates for Management, Service Clerk, Beauty Advisor, Photo Clerk and Pharmacy Tech positions on the east and west side of Cleveland..
This is the 3rd job fair in the past 2 years that Walgreen's has utilized our facility to screen our candidates. Representatives were very impressed with the caliber and professionalism of the candidates and said that this was the best group so far. Another fair will be scheduled this fall.

The Urban League of Greater Cleveland Young Professionals (ULGCYP), an auxiliary of the Urban League of Greater Cleveland (ULGC) was designed to provide young professionals in the Greater Cleveland area, with a forum that fosters professional development, community service, social awareness, and political involvement.

Computer Training Program
This comprehensive preparation for entry-level positions and business administration includes reinforcement of literacy skills, business English and Mathematics.

Health Care
Health Care, the nation's largest industry, provided 13.5 million jobs for wage and salary workers in 2004 and it is growing!
The Urban League and Cleveland Clinic collaborate to train qualified TANF recipients for entry level positions in the healthcare industry.
Upon successful completion of the 5 week curriculum and skills program, participants are certified as Home Health Aides, Home Attendants or Nursing Assistants.
Post training, Cleveland Clinic will offer the STNA Examination at Huron Hospital, employment opportunities, and after a 6 month job commitment you can apply to the Huron Hospital School of Nursing to become an RN.

The Rising Tide Initiative
The Rising Tide Fatherhood Program is a Fatherhood Initiative Program sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners. The program is a four-week program with the purpose helping non-custodial parents to address their parental responsibilities by way of assisting them to become self-sufficient. This is primarily achieved by offering workshops in the areas of: Personal Development, Parenting in Separate Households, Workforce Development and Job Placement.
